"To dig one's own spade into one's own earth! Has life anything better to offer than this?"
- Beverley Nichols -
Im chomping at the bit as I anticipate the arrival of spring. I cant wait to get back outside and embrace my glorious garden. I cant wait for my backyard to explode with colour when beautiful flowers start popping up all over the place. And I cant wait till all the critters that migrate south or hibernate during the cold months return to liven things up. Ive missed the butterflies and the robins and the bees and the hummingbirds and the dragonflies and, most of all, Mr. Inski! Actually, its Inskis, since more than one chipmunk visited. I hope a whole bunch of them return this spring. One chipmunk that dropped by regularly last summer was super friendly; he took peanuts right from my hand. He seemed very comfortable around people, which I really enjoyed, but it also worried me because I was afraid that someone cruel might hurt him. But lets not go there right now because I want this to be a happy post.
And lets make it a very happy post with some lovely purple blooms from last years gardening season. Ive probably posted purple flowers before, but its one of my favourite colours in the garden, so I cant help doing it all over again.
Were almost halfway through February, and the days are getting longer. Its just a matter of time. Tick, tock, tick, tock...
