Celebrating International Women's Day

100 years ago, women were not allowed to vote in federal elections. A woman had never been elected to parliament. There were no female judges. Women were not allowed to divorce their husbands for adultery. There were no women on Olympic teams, no female radio broadcasters, no equal pay. Birth control was illegal, but it was not illegal for a man to rape his wife. Women were not considered persons.

With no political, social or economic power, women fought for womens rights. They were harassed and imprisoned, called idealistic, crazy and much worsebut fortunately for us, they succeeded.

Because of those women, todays women are able to succeed, and encourage others to succeed.

We've come a long way, but we've still got a long way to go. Let's keep moving forward!
