The photos have piled up from the road trips the most amazing man in the world and I took this summer, and I will share some of them with you throughout the next few weeks, or rather, months.
Today it's all about the lovely village of Westport, Ontario.
We take walks around the neighbourhood while we're there to get a feel for the area. |
Westport Harbour |
This tiny hidden gem with a population of less than 700 is about a 30 40 minute drive north of where we live. It is a very popular tourist destination, and we visit it every summer.
Wonderfully dilapidated! |
The irises were in bloom when we were there. |
The first settlers to the area arrived between 1810 and 1820, and the village of Westport was incorporated as an independent municipality in 1904. It is one of Ontarios smallest ones.
Being near the water is very soul-soothing. |
Double trouble... |
It is surrounded by waterways, which is the primary reason why Westport appeals so much to me. As my regular blog visitors know, Im always happiest by the water.
A boat lover's paradise. |
I could have stayed here all day. |
The weather during this years visit was overcast with little to no wind; ideal for capturing reflections in the water.
The water was amazingly calm that day. |
I find this little home so charming. |
Visiting this enchanting and picturesque village forces you to slow down and relax. And we certainly do that every time were there.
Some fluffy clouds would have been the icing on the cake, but at least there was no wind. |
This view made me smile. |
We are very fortunate to have such a quaint and charming location nearby, and look forward to our next visit.
Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone!
