Hometown Memories: The Flying Desk

As I've written in the past, I went to a pretty tough high school where there were scores of unruly teens that made many a teacher�s life miserable. One of my history teachers was one of those unfortunate souls that put up with these belligerent and disrespectful students that harassed and disrupted and goaded. Day in and day out.

I felt sorry for this teacher because he was the most patient and mild mannered one I�d ever had.

Or so I thought...

Because one day...he snapped. Completely. He picked up a student desk, roared like a lion and threw it across the room. Everyone froze and you could hear a pin drop.

Although things quieted down somewhat after that incident, there were still days when the unmanageable students behaved badly in hopes that this typically good-natured man would turn into the incredible hulk once again. Their attempts were unsuccessful. It was a one-time performance.
