This weeks featured book:
The Runaway Jury
Author: John Grisham
Overview:
Every jury has a leader, and the verdict belongs to him. In Biloxi, Mississippi, a landmark tobacco trial with hundreds of millions of dollars at stake begins routinely, then swerves mysteriously off course. The jury is behaving strangely, and at least one juror is convinced hes being watched. Soon they have to be sequestered. Then a tip from an anonymous young woman suggests she is able to predict the jurors increasingly odd behavior. Is the jury somehow being manipulated, or even controlled? If so, by whom? And, more important, why?
My Comments:
I really enjoy reading John Grisham legal thrillers because theyre fast paced, gripping and full of fun and interesting twists. This is one of his best novels about a widower who is suing Big Tobacco for liability and punitive damages after her husband dies of lung cancer. You will enjoy how Grisham takes you step by step through jury selection and manipulation. And you will form relationships with the jurors that all have a story to tell. A fun read to take along on a trip, or cozy up with on that comfy couch.
