Happy Monday, everyone. How are you all doing? I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend, and I wish you all a great week. I've got a busy day ahead, so let's get right to the funny stuff.
Happy Monday, everyone, and happy Halloween! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. We sort of hibernated the past couple of days, because sometimes you need a little of that, but we did manage to go out for coffee and be part of civilization. Now that my battery is more or less fully charged, I will once again pick up the pace.
Lots of sunshine here today but a little cold. Thankfully there's no rain in the forecast, so the little witches and pirates and princesses and vampires can get out tonight and enjoy the holiday. They may have to bundle up but at least they won't have to carry umbrellas around. Or miss out completely. Some parents do not take the kids out if the weather is really bad.
Happy Monday, blogging pals. How is everyone? I hope you all had a nice weekend. Ours was both busy and quiet. Projects, leisure time, projects and leisure time. That was our weekend. And we squeezed in a couple of movies. The night before we watched 'Cat Ballou' with Jane Fonda and Lee Marvin. It's an old comedy western musical. Meh. It was alright. I'm not the biggest fan of old movies. Some I like, some I don't. Then last night we watched the crappiest movie in the history of crappy movies. 'Trespass' starring Nicole Kidman and Nicolas Cage. There are so many flaws in it that it's both laughable and exasperating. Do. Not. Watch. It.
Guess what? I'm the proud owner of a slow cooker. Finally. We went shopping on Friday night and brought one home with us. Do any of you use a slow cooker? I have wanted one for ages. I don't know why I took so long to get one. And since bringing it home, I've already collected about 1,000 recipes to try. Tomorrow will be my first attempt at this beautiful machine. Wish me luck, I'm going in...
Okay, enough of the blah, blah, blah...here's some funny stuff for you.
Here we are again. The end of another week. It's cold and gloomy and pouring rain outside as I write this. It's the side of the fall season that I don't like. Any day now the leaves on the trees will fall and the raking will begin. Or the mulching. We don't rake or bag or blow leaves; we mulch them into our lawn. And add some into the flower beds, as well. Good eatin' for the garden.
Have you watched any good movies lately? We've been watching some older ones. A few days ago we saw 'Brubaker' starring Robert Redford. It's a prison drama about newly arrived prison warden, Henry Brubaker, who attempts to clean up a corrupt and violent and abusive penal system. It's pretty good. I always enjoy films that Robert Redford is in; he's a good actor.
While watching 'Brubaker', the most amazing man in the world commented on how young Robert Redford is in this film. Of course he is. This movie dates back to 1980. I was young then, too. Only 15. I didn't have grey hair, a mortgage, children I worried about or any other grownup responsibilities. I wasn't dealing with menopause and all its madness. My vision hadn't begun to deteriorate, therefore I didn't have to hold reading material out at arms length (in bright light) or wear reading glasses daily or carry around a mini magnifying glass to read the fine print on products that at my age is one big blur. I didn't have to kick my metabolism in the ass (once upon a time it was a powerhouse) to keep it from spending the day napping. And my body didn't make creaking, popping and rattling sounds. Some of you know what I'm talking about. Some of you are still too young to understand all this but you'll get there one day!
Moving on...
I've been listening to a lot of music lately as I continue to paint furniture, which I'll share photos of eventually since some of you requested some. But not today. Today I will share the video below of the song Renegades by the band X Ambassadors. Maybe you'll like it, too. Or not. Doesn't matter. What does matter is that the weekend is here again and I'm going to wish you all a good one!
Happy Monday, blogging friends. Did you all have a nice weekend? I certainly hope so. Our weather has been very mild for the past few days. It feels more like spring than fall. I can live with this.
Have you heard about the 'creepy clown craze'? I was recently reading about it. It began in Greenville, S.C., in the United States in August and has since gone global, with incidents reported in the United Kingdom, Australia and even my country, Canada. Total madness. Here's a link for those who have no idea what I'm talking about: Creepy clown craze sweeps the globe
Happy Monday, everyone, and happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians! How did the weekend go? We spent most of it traveling and visiting and traveling and visiting. Saturday we drove to Ottawa to spend some time with my younger daughter. She couldn't come home for the long weekend because of her work schedule, so went to her instead. We caught up on news, took her for dinner and had a wonderful time. Yesterday we drove to Montreal, visited with my mother-in-law, my mom, my brother and sister in-law, and met up with the my husband's sisters, their partners, his great nephew and his father at a Japanese restaurant to celebrate my father-in-law's 90th birthday.
It was a full weekend and we enjoyed seeing everyone. The traveling has left us exhausted, so today we're going to do a whole lot of nothing!
Happy Monday, everyone, and happy October, too, since I haven't wished you that yet. It snuck up on us and here we are. October makes me think of pumpkins and Halloween and apples and Thanksgiving, which we celebrate next week here in Canada. The leaves change colour, the weather is just right and the aisles in stores are stocked with colourful candy and bite-sized chocolates. There is a certain joy to this month that you won't find any other time of year. I love it all. Except for the shortening of days. I don't love that. How about you? Do you like October?
Here's some funny stuff while you think about that...
Today is one of those days. My introverted blogging pals will understand this and the need to be absolutely in hermit mode for as long as it takes to recharge the internal batteries. Yesterday I had my fair share of people-ing. I spoke to people, I smiled at people, I circulated with people. Most of them were nice. Some of them were not so nice. And some wouldn't smile if their life depended on it. How do people go through life being so miserable and nasty? I just can't understand it. It must be utterly exhausting.
Anyhow, today is summarized by this:
People, people everywhere... I don't have the energy for them. So I'm not going to people today. I'm battening down the hatches and shutting them all out. Maybe I'll hang some garlic around the windows and doors in case they try to force their way in.
Happy new week, everyone. How is it going? What are you up to these days? Not much to report on my end. It's been fairly quiet. Today is going to be a cooking and baking day. I have a list of recipes I want to tackle like applesauce, apple butter, broccoli cheese and potato soup, fudgy brownies and a couple more. Will I make everything today? Probably not; that would be overly ambitious. But I'll cook and bake until I can't cook and bake anymore. 'Cause there's nothing like homemade food.
Happy new week, my friends! What's going on with you? How was your weekend? Mine was very nice, thank you for asking. Yesterday morning I went for round two at the local book fair, which takes place for two weekends a year. It was the last day and on the last day the blowout sale happens. You have two choices that day: 1) you pick up a few books at half price or 2) you grab a box, fill it up with as many books as you can fit into it and pay only $10. Well... What do you suppose I chose to do? Yeah.
And because it was such a beautiful day, the most amazing man in the world and I headed downtown for dinner and stopped in at the new restaurant, Score Pizza. You get to choose the ingredients and the pizza is built right in front of you and cooked within minutes. It was so good!
Then we took a nice long walk and stopped in at White Mountain where you can get the most delicious homemade ice cream and frozen yogurt that is made with natural ingredients. Delicious!
Well, enough about all that, let's get to why you're here...the funny stuff!
